Part I and Part II of this series examined the nature of Rheumatoid Arthritis, how Rheumatoid Disorders have been poorly addressed and looked at some of the common causal factors contributing to it. In Part III, the Goldberg Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation System (GBHRS) and how it is successfully utilized to reverse Rheumatoid Arthritis and other chronic disorders is explored.

The Goldberg Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation System evolved out of personal tribulations, trial and error, academic training and long clinical experience. It is not a one size fits all program but rather a logical, individualized, effective way to restore the health of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other chronic disease conditions. GBHRS focuses on reversing chronic disease issues by rebuilding the body and creating the optimal conditions for the individual to be Re-Created to the full extent of their potential. “Treatments”, as commonly utilized, standard or alternative, are not employed. The goal of GBHRS is the restoration of full health as opposed to the ongoing suppression of symptoms.

GBHRS is diametrically opposed to a medical treatment approach and entirely foreign to those trained in medicine and/or alternative medicine whether they are “professionals” or laypersons both whom have been indoctrinated to seek out symptom suppressing medications. There is often significant effort that must be employed in helping a patient shift to leaving the treatment mentality behind and engaging in the GBHRS due to prior conditioning. The GBHRS, however, offers the most logical, natural, effective way to enable individuals to reverse their chronic disease condition.

In the GBHRS, the naming of symptoms is of much less importance. The origins or causes of those symptoms is, however, of great importance and sought out with great diligence (see Part II of this series on causal factors). It matters little which of the hundred and forty different medical classifications for Rheumatoid Disease e.g. Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, etc. the patient has been labeled with. What must be identified are the reason(s) behind the patient’s physical distress followed by directly addressing those reasons.

The notion of Re-Creating a body plagued with a Rheumatoid Disorder as opposed to administering “treatments” to suppress symptoms is difficult for patients to grasp. Our over-riding task is to re-build the patient’s cellular structure to allow for positive changes in their biochemistry so health may evolve and disease dissipate.  The pictures shown below are a small sampling from our clinic illustrating the positive outcomes that are possible through the Goldberg Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation System.

The steps taken vary from patient to patient based upon their history, laboratory findings, age, drugs taken, vital capacities of organs, their digestive abilities, the degree of toxins they have accumulated over the years and other individual characteristics. What always is true, however, is that the Re-Creation Process requires full patient participation. It is an active process involving the application of carefully applied hygienic, biochemical and nutritional measures. The patient is never a passive bystander taking pills and potions as occurs in the medical and alternative medical “treatments” of Rheumatoid Diseases. Re-Creating the body involves breaking down old diseased tissues and then, under the right conditions, creating new healthier tissues. This requires full patient engagement along with persistence and time.

Utilizing a Re-Creation Approach engages the patient on multiple levels.  Diseased tissues are re-created i.e. they go through a process of catabolism (breaking down old tissues) and anabolism (creating new ones).  Initially there will usually be the need for physiological rest to allow the body to initiate the Re-Creative Process. During this period the patient must start abstaining from the negative habits which have been identified and enable an energy restoration process to begin. In many cases, this will involve consuming less food for a period and avoiding all activities that have been draining the patient’s energy over the years. Some patients might be placed on liquid nutriment for a short period of time.

To expedite the break down of old tissues there must be a reduction of food to allow the body to begin the catabolic process. How this is done, when this is done and how long this is done is tailored to the patient’s circumstances and requires supervision under an experienced hand. Some patients are very toxic due to years of drugs, environmental toxins, poor diet, emotional stressors, chronic indigestion, lack of sleep, etc. and clinical experience will dictate how each person’s case is best addressed.

The need for increased rest and sleep to restore the energy required is critical as is being in a peaceful frame of mind. Energy must be saved for Re-Creating the body. Having worked with patients in this manner for almost half a century, we have developed the skills to counsel patients in how to fully engage in the Re-Creative Process based upon their own circumstances and our findings. “Energy leaks” must be plugged including the discontinuation of toxic habits such as alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Identified accumulated environmental toxins must be identified and addressed. Emotional drains from sources such as marital and occupational discord must be examined and a battle plan to bring about their resolution developed as appropriate.

Patience

Our culture has created the expectation of immediate gratification. Most patients with Rheumatoid Disorders have been ill for years. Their tissues are saturated with the waste products of poor diets, stressful relationships, lack of sleep, indigestion and drug usage. Not only have the wastes saturated the cells but the cells themselves have become exhausted, toxic and inefficient in their operation leading to inefficient function and Rheumatoid Disease symptoms. Symptoms have been suppressed with drugs and supplements to gain temporary partial pain relief while sliding deeper into chronic Rheumatoid Disease.

For most Rheumatoid Disease patients ,up to two years is needed to totally gain the benefits of the Re-Creative Process though many depending on age and the extent of illness and drugs taken will feel improvements in a period of four to six months after beginning a comprehensive Re-Creation Program. For those expecting immediate relief, this might seem like an eternity. The end product we are working towards, however, is a new body, not just temporary pain relief and ongoing poor health (see article “The Time Factor in Reversing Chronic Disease”).

Shown below is a video interview with Tom, one of our Rheumatoid Arthritis patients, who endured numerous ups and downs in the course of recovering his health including periods of significant drug withdrawal (prednisone in particular, see article “Problems with Prednisone”). He exhibited patience and persistence in the two year period he worked with us at the Goldberg Tener Clinic. Tom possessed what we refer to as “The Will to Get Well” which contributed to his success. Investigating Causal Factors… Letting go of Medical Diagnoses

Some patients have gone through a lengthy period prior to getting their medical diagnosis, whether that be Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, or other Rheumatoid name. The symptom naming “diagnosis” gave them a title to look up on the Internet and a sense of identity. These titles, however, work against the need to focus on Re-Creating health. The medical prognosis for Rheumatoid Arthritis is a dismal one leading the patient to believe they are helpless with a “chronic disease” that has no happy outcome. The “diagnosis” also puts them into a collective mindset that everyone with such a title is identical drawing their attention away from looking at the specific reasons they as an individual became ill and how they can address and reverse it as opposed to being an ongoing pawn in the Medical System.

The focus for the individual taking a Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation System Approach on the contrary is focused on health and looking forward to a bright future, being able to take care of themselves and be free of the medical system. Shown below is a video interview with Rebecca, one of our Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. She suffered from debilitating joint and muscle pain in her hips, knees and shoulders that made it very difficult for her to walk. Since implementing an individualized, Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation Program under our guidance, she is pain free, drug free and in excellent health. She is back to doing yoga, hiking and enjoying her life. Click here to see the full case write up and before / after labs.

Persisting Through Temporary Symptoms & Staying the Course

Returning to health from chronic disease can be like giving birth. It often entails discomforts but like bearing a healthy child it is a wonderful outcome. As the body recovers its equilibrium, discomforts can temporarily occur.

As metabolic wastes are eliminated, addictions are broken and wastes from heavy metals, organophosphates and other toxins are brought to the surface, the patient can look haggard initially, just as an alcoholic or heroin addict looks rough when going through alcoholic or heroin withdrawal. Joint and muscle pains may temporarily increase. Patients need encouragement and counsel as they go through the Re-Creation Process. Monitoring through periodic re-examinations and through laboratory analysis provides objective data to evaluate the patient’s progress. The patient may worsen for a time while at the same time their laboratory data shows objective signs of improvement. We know not to make changes at that point even though the patient is going through a difficult period symptom wise. Long clinical experience and the right orientation are again critical to guide the patient to a successful outcome.

Biochemical Individuality… Body, Mind and Spirit

Rheumatoid Arthritis and other Rheumatoid Disorders develop from numerous factors. We are all biochemically unique (see article “Infinite Variety”) Each person must therefore be analyzed as a person which requires looking at the entire spectrum of their life. Mental, physical and spiritual aspects of a person’s life all must be considered and addressed.

There also should be motivation to recover. A part of all initial evaluations involve exploring what the patient’s goals are. Does the patient have reason to get well? What do they want to accomplish with a higher level of health and comfort? There should be goals and purpose to help motivate the recovery process. If the patient’s only goal is to regain their health with no direction beyond that, there may be a lack of motivation to carry them through a Bio-Hygienic Re-Creation Program. It is not so much a matter of what the patient’s goals and purpose are, but that there are goals and purpose for their life. Possible goals and purposes include support of family, children and companion animals, career aspirations, religious and /or charitable activities and general enjoyment of life. Getting out of discomfort is itself a great motivator. Applying our new found health to worthy objectives only serves to increase our drive to Re-Create Our Bodies and thereby our lives.
